Coach Matt Irvin was named the head coach at New Trier High School in spring of 2008 and lead the team to play off victory in his initial season. Irvin was named the St Louis High School Coach of the Year by the St Louis Rams in 2005 and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 2007 after taking his team to the state championship game in his first and third season as a head coach and has a career record of 39-8. He has distinguished himself on the field and the sidelines, playing for and coaching with four Hall of Fame football coaches, including Ron Holtman of M.I.C.D.S in St Louis and South Carolina’s John McKissick, the winningest coach in high school football history. Irvin was a highly honored player at Missouri State University, where he was captain of a team that twice made the I-AA playoffs. At MSU, Irvin was an All-Gateway Conference pick from 1990-92, earned All-American honors and was given the Briggs Award for Academics, Leadership and Character his senior year. Irvin started his coaching career at Kirkwood (MO) High School and is a certified Strength and Conditioning specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
